01 Day Cultural Tour

Kandy

Iternary

6:00 AM – 8:30 AM : Depart from Colombo and drive to Pinnawala. Visit the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage.
10:00 AM – 11:30 AM :Travel from Pinnawala to Peradeniya and visit the Royal Botanical Gardens.
11:30 AM – 12:15 PM :Explore the Peradeniya Garden.
12:15 PM – 12:30 PM : Travel to Kandy city, visit the Sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic.
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM : Temple of the Tooth visit.
1:30 PM – 2:30 PM : Lunch at a local restaurant in Kandy.
2:30 PM – 3:00 PM : Visit the Kandy View Point.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM : Tour local craft shops: wood crafting, gem shop, batik shop, and silk shop.
4:00 PM – 4:30 PM :Drive from Peradeniya to Pilimathalawa Tea Factory.
4:30 PM – 5:00 PM : Tour and experience tea production at the Tea Factory.
5:00 PM – 7:00 PM : Return to Colombo.

Pinnawala – Elephant Encounters and Gentle Giants

Pinnawala is home to the world-famous Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, a sanctuary established to care for orphaned and injured elephants. Nestled along the banks of the Maha Oya River, visitors are treated to a rare and heartwarming opportunity to watch elephants up close – from bottle-feeding baby elephants to observing their daily river bath. This is a must-see destination for wildlife lovers and families.


Apart from the orphanage, you can enjoy charming local cafes and browse elephant-themed souvenirs made by local artisans. A morning visit is ideal to catch the bathing sessions, which are a photographer’s dream.

Peradeniya – Garden of Royal Botanicals

Peradeniya, just outside of Kandy, is renowned for its Royal Botanical Gardens, which span over 147 acres and house over 4,000 species of plants, including orchids, spices, medicinal herbs, and palm trees. Originally designed for royalty, the garden offers peaceful walking paths, a majestic avenue of Royal Palms, and a scenic suspension bridge across the Mahaweli River.

Kandy – Heart of Sri Lanka's Cultural Soul

Kandy is the cultural capital of Sri Lanka and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At its heart lies the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa), which houses a sacred relic of the Buddha. Pilimathalawa – Tea Trails and Ceylon Aroma

Situated near Peradeniya, Pilimathalawa is home to charming tea factories nestled in rolling green hills. A visit to a local tea factory offers insights into Sri Lanka’s proud tea-making heritage. You can observe the tea drying, rolling, and packaging process, and sample freshly brewed Ceylon tea straight from the source.
